Lakes Disposal will begin its 2022 Fall Loose Leaf collection program in your area per the below schedule:

October Leaf Vacuuming will be completed the week of October 24th - All leaves must be at the curb Monday October 24th at 6am.

November Leaf Vacuuming will be completed the week of November 14th.  All leaves must be at the curb Monday November 14th at 6am.

Work crews will collect loose leaves throughout the above-mentioned week.  Loose leaves must be piled behind the curb, ready for collection prior to 6 a.m. on the morning of Monday and crews will work throughout the week until collection is complete.

When participating in loose leaf collection, residents should remember not to rake leaves into the curb or street.  Crews will pass by each house on the route one time. All loose-leaf piles must be free of trash, sticks, limbs, bottles, cans, and other debris.  The vacuum hose is only 6 ft in length so have the leaves as close to the road as possible.  Avoid parking along the street on leaf pickup weeks.  If your car is parked in front of the leaves, we cannot vacuum them.

Residents concerned about blowing leaves can continue to bag their leaves in yard waste bags or in 32- gallon containers marked yard waste.  These will be collected on your normal yard waste collection day.

If you have any questions about the Loose Leaf collection or any other services, please feel free to call our office at (815) 675-0400 or contact us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..  Thank you.  We appreciate your business.

Bulk Items

One bulk item such as a couch, chair or table will be collected each week at no additional charge.  Bulk items must be less than 50 lbs., and can be collected by 1 person and into the truck.

Special pick-ups must be pre-arranged for scheduling and payment. If you choose to have this done on a day other than your scheduled service day an extra trip fee will be charged.

Electronic Waste

The Illinois Electronic Products Recycling and Reuse Act prohibits any person from allowing or to cause mixing of any of the items listed with municipal waste that is intended for disposal at a landfill.  Electronic items such as televisions, monitors, computers and printers are some of the most common items no longer allowed in the regular trash.  Lakes Disposal offers collection of these items directly from your home for an additional fee; however, you must call in advance to schedule a pick-up and make arrangements.  Customers also have the option to bring their items directly to drop off sites throughout the area, most of which have no fee.  Please visit our Electronics page under Recycling.

Recycling

Recyclable materials are collected curbside weekly on your primary day of service. Please do not put your recyclables in plastic bags in the toter.  Recyclables shall be placed clean and dry, loose in the totoer.  All recyclable materials should be rinsed free of food. Cardboard boxes must be broken down, flattened and cut into a manageable size (2’X2’). Cardboard should be placed next to your other recyclables.  No plastic bags are allowed.

Yard waste is collected weekly, April 1 thru the 2nd full week of December.  Yard waste collection is offered at no additional charge to residents paying a quarterly rate.

Tree limbs, branches or brush must be bundled with twine, and may not exceed 4 feet in length and 2 feet in diameter, with individual branches not exceeding 3 inches in diameter. Yard waste containers must be no larger than 35 gallons. Each yard waste bag, can or bundle may not exceed 50 lbs.

If you use cans for your landscape waste instead of biodegradable Kraft paper bags, please mark (paint) the cans containing landscape waste. This will help identify the landscape waste to the drivers so your pick up is not inadvertently missed. Yard waste in plastic bags will not be collected.

Three loose leaf, curbside collections will be provided annually, one each during the Spring, October and November.

Christmas trees will be collected the first two weeks of January at no additional charge from all residential households. All decorations, stands, etc. must be removed from trees. Do not place trees in plastic bags; trees in plastic bags will not be collected.
